“Fuzzy” by Morgan Orion out June 3rd, 2022
Morgan Orion is excited to announce the release of “Fuzzy” on CD and via Spotify, Apple Music, Itunes and all other major Streaming and Digital Download Outlets on June 3rd, 2022.
“Fuzzy” deals in true confessions and folk tales. Lyrically influenced by Orion’s travels in Europe and musically influenced by the vintage Rhythm & Blues of his home in New Orleans. The album is as much a collection of stories as it is a collection of friends he made along the way. Notably Sam Doores (Hurray for the Riff Raff/The Deslondes), Mathias Kom (The Burning Hell), Dana Sipos (two time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee), Max Bien Kahn (Max & The Martians), and harpist Cassie Francillon Watson making a special vocal appearance.
“Fuzzy”’s title track and first single has had the music video treatment by New Orleans director Lee Garcia and cinematographer Andres Ballestros. Orion calls it “Indie Americana at the intersection of partial nudity, teddy bears and analog television.”
The second single, “Alone Forever”, a folk country number, will be out May 23rd. The music video was self-produced in Yellowstone National Park and edited by Lee Garcia. Of the video, Orion says, “It’s just me being lonely with a few buffalo in the deep pandemic days. The song took on a new meaning during that period.”
Morgan Orion lives in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans where he records music in his home. He has just returned from a tour to the West Coast with Bruisey Peets and has toured extensively throughout Europe, the U.K. and North America over the last 15 years sharing stages with acts such as: Hurray for the Riff Raff, Kimya Dawson & Jeffrey Lewis. Robert Gordon, Grammy Award-winning writer and filmmaker says, "He's in the Jonathan Richman school of delivery, and has a great way not only with words but also with phrasing." Of Orion, Daytrotter says he’s “Bawling at the harvest moon and the thorns in betwixt.” Sam Doores of Hurray for the Riff Raff/The Deslondes says "His songs deal in realms of love, fits of desire, and possess a unique awareness of the human condition." “Fuzzy” is his 6th album to date.
An album release party will be held June 5th, 2022 at The Saturn Bar in New Orleans with performances by Morgan Orion & The Afterburners, Brain Cream and Max Bien Kahn. Tickets available at the door.
